GARP Stocks (PEG < 1)

GARP — growth at a reasonable price — is Peter Lynch's signature discipline: a PEG ratio (P/E divided by earnings growth rate) below 1 means you pay less than one point of P/E per point of growth. This screen requires PEG 0–1, at least 10% earnings growth and a meaningful positive P/E (1–40).

PEG depends heavily on which growth rate the provider uses — treat sub-1 readings as a first-pass filter and verify the growth basis before acting on it.

FAQ

What PEG is considered cheap?

Lynch's rule of thumb: PEG below 1 is attractive, 1–2 is fair, above 2 means you are paying up for growth. This list is capped at PEG ≤ 1 with positive floors so meaningless values cannot slip in.

Can a PEG be negative?

Yes — when earnings growth is negative the PEG turns negative and loses meaning. We require PEG > 0 and at least 10% earnings growth.
